Which means hello. And, along with tesekur, (or some correctly spelled version of that?) is one of the only two words I know in Turkish.
I'm not much in the mood to write (shocking, I know) so I've decided to make this quick and sum up my last few days in numbers. Enjoy!
6- The age in years of the Bulgarian orphan boy with whom I am officially in love.
23- The time in hours we spent sitting in the middle of the Varna harbor after leaving our berth but before actually starting for Istanbul.
14- The diameter in inches of the ice cream cake we ordered and completely consumed for Candice's birthday.
3- The number of children worldwide who die every minute without clean water and/or sanitation, as taught today at the International Finance Corporation.
3,000- The number of stores in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.
2.5- The time in hours we spent in just one of these shops today looking, thinking, haggling, drinking apple tea, taking pictures, thinking some more and (everyone but me) eventually buying lamps.
51- The percent humidity they're calling for in Istanbul this weekend.
253- The price in Turkish Lira of our amazing dinner, enjoyed upon the recommendation of the one and only Rick Steves.
6?- The days this week I've been awake by 6:30 AM.
Ergo, (which, by the way, happens to be my favorite word) I'm going to call it a night and head to sleep. Tomorrow we're doing some more exploring and probably seeing Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and other major sights. Night!
